Minnesota Beatle Project

Just when you thought that Jeremy Messersmith would never record a Beatles cover, the MN Beatle Project (Vol. 1) has made the dream a reality. The benefit CD, which will also feature the likes of Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, Ice Palace, and the Suicide Commandos, is being released in December with all of the proceeds from its sale going to “rebuild and enhance music and art education for children in Minnesota public schools.”

A CD release party will for the album will take place December 8 in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary Curtiss A’s Tribute to John Lennon tribute show at First Avenue. Already announced for the event are Romantica, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, and Nicholas “The Feelin” Mrozinski. Here’s the lineup for the CD:

Nicholas “The Feelin” Mrozinski “Across the Universe”
Jeremy Messersmith & Zach Coulter “Norwegian  Wood”
Heatbox “Octopus’s Garden”
Roma Di Luna “I  Will”
Tim Mahoney “We Can Work It  Out”
Mark  Mallman “Fool On The  Hill”
The Pachyderm All-Stars “Eleanor Rigby”
Dave Simonett (Trampled by Turtles) & Friends “Two Of  Us”
The Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins “I’ve Just Seen A  Face”
Romantica “Something”
Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles “Sexy  Sadie”
The Ronny Loew Band “Come Together”
Casablanca Orchestra “Drive My Car/The Word/What  You’re Doing”
Ice Palace “Strawberry Fields”
The Suicide Commandos “Slow Down”
Anthony Middle School Concert  Band “Sgt. Pepper’s  Medley”

Even if somehow you’re not interested in hearing some of the finest local musicians lay down their renditions of their favorite Beatles songs, tickets to the event are only $13. And that isn’t much, considering you’re doin’ it for da shorteez!
