Hundreds of young people from across the province will be collecting food in southwest Calgary on March 11 for the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank.

The young people are in town for their annual day-long youth conference sponsored by the province’s Seventh Day Adventist churches.

“The church’s focus this year is on outreach ministry,” said publicist Rev. Rudy James. “They want to do something meaningful in the community in which they are holding the convention.”

About 16,000 shopping bags provided by Safeway Canada, will be distributed to homes on Thursday March 9 for pickup Saturday.

Rev. Carl DeLine, director of The Back Door, a youth employment project, will be speaking to about 1,000 young people attending the conference at the Jubilee Auditorium, which concludes with a Christian music concert.
